Viasat World stocks up on factual

The Mathewsons’ classic car auction business, filmed in Bangers & Cash

International broadcaster Viasat World has signed a deal for 72 hours of unscripted and factual programming with UK-based distributor Beyond Rights.

Viasat World, which broadcasts channels in central and eastern Europe (CEE), the Nordics, Russia and CIS, will air the third season of Bangers & Cash, which takes a fly-on-the-wall look at a UK classic car auction house, as well as episodes of Massive Engineering Mistakes and Heavy Rescue.

All three shows form part of Viasat’s Mates at Work brand on its channel Viasat Explore.

Viasat History will show Countdown to War, a three-part docuseries examining the buildup to the Second World War from the perspective of Adolf Hitler, in CEE and the Nordics.

Viasat Nature, meanwhile, will air Aussie Snake Wranglers, which sees a crack team take on the world’s deadliest animals and joins Aussie Mega Zoo, which it acquired last year.

Viasat has taken the exclusive pay TV and catchup rights for all the shows, along with some SVoD deals on certain shows.

Karin Heijink, senior VP of content, marketing and products at Viasat World, said: “This sizeable deal cements our long-standing and important partnership with Beyond Rights as a leader in the factual content space. These strong and compelling titles are a perfect match with our clearly defined content pillars for each channel and as such we expect them to be solid ratings drivers with our loyal audiences.”
