Viaplay unveils premium scripted slate headed by Bosnia drama A Life’s Worth at screenings

Drama series A Life’s Worth is set in war-torn Bosnia

LONDON TV SCREENINGS: Scandinavian streamer Viaplay has revealed its 2025 slate of original premium scripted series, sports-skewing documentaries, true crime titles and young-adult shows.

Executives from the Nordic platform introduced highlights of the line-up and screened full episodes of its flagship offerings to global buyers at a London TV Screenings showcase held at the Soho Hotel.

Viaplay’s scripted offering is headed by A Life’s Worth, a hard-hitting drama series inspired by the first Swedish United Nations battalion to see service in war-torn Bosnia in 1993. The 6×44’ title, based on real-life events, is produced by YellowBird and stars Johan Rheborg (Sunny Side) and Edvin Ryding (Young Royals).

Vanguard (5×45’, FLX), meanwhile, stars Jakob Oftebro (Black Crab) as a high-flying Swedish entrepreneur living in New York who finds himself reluctantly drawn back into running his family’s failing industrial group.

Joining the scripted roster are chilling true crime drama The Hunt (6×50’, Pupkin Productions), about the murder of Marianne Vaatstra, a case that gripped the Netherlands for more than a decade, and season two of romantic comedy Meaning of Life (8×30’, FLX).

In factual, Viaplay has multiple titles following the career of Formula 1 ace Max Verstappen, as well as Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland, alongside a catalogue of true crime titles including The Copenhagen Killer (3×42’, Strong) and The Priest From Hell (2×42’, STV).

Young-adult content includes teen serial killer dark comedy No Angel (4×15’, Viaplay Studios) and LGBT+-themed drama One of the Boys (4×15’, Apple Tree).

Vanda Rapti

Earlier this month, Viaplay presented its financial figures for the fourth quarter of 2024 and the complete year, which showed that the troubled company, which came close to bankruptcy two years ago, has weathered the worst of the storm.

Vanda Rapti, exec VP of Viaplay Select and content distribution, told buyers at the London event: “Our global and extra dynamic distribution business comprises different models aiming to best serve different content buyers and aggregators around the world.

“There is one common ground: we distribute the best of Nordic and distinct European storytelling. We have a truly fantastic line-up of content – four high-end, unique and super strong dramas, as well as documentaries, all with universal themes and timely relevance.”
