Viaplay, TV3 partner to revive Fort Boyard in Norway after 10-year break

The 32nd season of the French Fort Boyard aired this summer

Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group’s streaming service Viaplay and TV3 in Norway have revived the local version of classic physical gameshow format Fort Boyard after a 10-year hiatus.

Banijay-owned Mastiff Norway will produce the Norwegian reboot, titled Fangene på Fortet, which will be carried by Viaplay and TV3.

Elsewhere, following a successful revival in 2019, Mastiff Russia has produced a second season of local version Fort Bojard for CTC that will launch this week.

Both versions will be filmed at the show’s hub in France. Bernt Hulsker and Julie Strømsvåg are confirmed to host the Norwegian version and will oversee celebrity contestants taking on a range of challenges in the imposing 19th century Napoleonic fortress.

Fort Boyard was originally created by Jacques Antoine and Adventure Line Productions in 1990. The format has since been adapted in more than 30 territories.

The 32nd season in France aired this summer while Viaplay also recently revived the format in Poland.
