Viaplay reopens Fort Boyard in Poland

Channel 5’s UK version of Fort Boyard, which aired from 1998 to 2001

Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group is reviving classic physical gameshow format Fort Boyard for its Viaplay streaming service in Poland.

Viaplay will arrive in Poland in July as part of the streamer’s continued roll-out beyond the Nordics, and Fort Boyard will be the first NENT-led production in the country.

Fort Boyard, which first aired on French TV in 1990, pits two teams against each other in physical and mental challenges to win money. The show takes place on the titular Napoleonic fort off the west coast of France, and last aired in Poland 10 years ago on TVP2.

The reboot will feature 48 Polish celebrities tackling the fort’s games. It will be produced by Endemol Shine Poland, part of European production and distribution giant Banijay.
