Viaplay renews social media young adult drama Delete Me for second season

Social media drama Delete Me

Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group-owned streamer Viaplay has renewed young adult drama Delete Me for a second season.

The shortform original series explores pressures faced by young people on social media and will return to the streamer in the second half of 2022.

Created, written and directed by Marie Kristiansen, the show is currently filming in Oslo, with cast members Sofia Tjelta Sydness, Happy Jankell and Erik Enge returning.

After being humiliated by her boyfriend, and with her plans to move to New York on ice due to the coronavirus, Sanna (Tjelta Sydness) is working as a waitress in Oslo while dreaming of being an influencer on YouTube. Desperate for fame, she takes the fateful decision to sell intimate pictures of herself online.

The series is produced by Pål Kruke Kristiansen and Kristin Emblem via Einar Film with Guri Neby as executive producer, and Tanya Nanette Badendyck as executive producer for Viaplay.

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group chief content officer, who told C21 earlier this year that young adult drama was a top priority for the streamer, said: “As adults, we think we know the importance of social media for many young people today – but perhaps we don’t fully understand how overwhelming its demands can be.

“The themes of Delete Me have never been more relevant and adding a new season of this compelling and visually innovative show to our fast-growing YA slate is about more than collecting likes.”
