Viaplay preps original Manson doc

Manson’s Bloodline follows Charles Manson’s grandson Jason Freeman

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) has commissioned a four-part documentary series about American cult leader and murderer Charles Manson for its Viaplay streaming service.

Manson’s Bloodline is the latest original factual series to premiere on Viaplay and is due to debut on August 9. It is part of a drive to premiere 20 original series on the service every year.

The series will feature, for the first time, Manson’s only living relative, his grandson Jason Freeman, telling his unsettling story.

Manson’s Bloodline follows Freeman for 16 months as he struggles with the legacy left by one of the most notorious criminals in American history.

The doc, which is produced by New York-based MY Entertainment, will be distributed globally by NENT-owned UK broadcaster DRG.

NENT recently commissioned two seasons of documentary series American Runestone by Swedish Hollywood star Peter Stormare, joining previous original docs Swedish Sin, Four Hands Menu, Couple Thinkers and Superswede on its slate.
