Viaplay orders series based on Lena Philipsson song

Viaplay chief content officer Filippa Wallestam

NEWS BRIEF: Scandi streamer Viaplay has commissioned The Street Where I Live, a six-part drama inspired by the song of the same name by Swedish singer Lena Philipsson, who will star in her first major acting role.

The 6×60’ series has been created and scripted by Mikael Newihl (Max Anger) at Viaplay Studios, with Viaplay Content Distribution handling global sales. Philipsson has had 13 albums in the country’s top 20 since her debut in 1984, and represented Sweden in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest. Filippa Wallestam, Viaplay Group chief content officer, said: “A song is an unusual basis for a scripted series, but Lena’s hugely popular 2005 single combines tension, affection and longing.”
