Viacom’s Pluto added to Amazon Fire

Jersey Shore is available on Pluto TV’s MTV The Shores channel

Viacom-owned OTT service Pluto TV has expanded its presence in Europe by launching on Amazon Fire TV devices and Amazon Fire tablets in the UK, Germany and Austria.

In the UK, more than 50 Pluto TV channels – including the recently launched Pluto TV Drama and Pluto TV Crime – are available to Amazon Fire customers.

In Germany and Austria, meanwhile, more than 20 of Pluto TV’s thematically curated channels can now be accessed on Amazon devices.

In addition, Pluto TV and Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) are set to expand the service’s programming slate in Germany and Austria with the launch of new branded channels MTV Pluto TV, MTV Dating and MTV The Shores, as well as popular Nickelodeon content.

This marks the first time Viacom channels will debut on the ad-supported streaming service outside of the US.

MTV Pluto TV features the youth-skewing brand’s reality programming, such as Teen Mom and Pimp My Ride; MTV The Shores features US reality series Jersey Shore and UK spin-off Geordie Shore; and MTV Dating compiles MTV’s programmes based on love and dating.

Pluto TV Kids and Pluto TV Kids Jr. channels, meanwhile, feature Nickelodeon series such as Dora the Explorer.

“Our line-up of diverse, thematic channels and premium programming is a perfect match with Amazon’s vast and engaged customer base, especially now that in Germany and Austria we have added Viacom content to our pipeline,” said Olivier Jollet, MD of Europe at Pluto TV.

Pluto TV was rolled out globally online in 2018, including in Europe, where it launched in the UK, Germany and Austria. In early 2019, Viacom acquired Pluto TV and has since been accelerating international expansion efforts.
