Viacom’s Club 57 heads to Portugal, Africa

VIS partnered with Italian pubcaster Rai TV on Club 57

Portugal’s Dreamia TV network has struck a deal to broadcast Viacom International Studios (VIS) musical series Club 57 on its children’s cablenet Biggs in Portugal and across Africa.

Club 57 follows the adventures of a girl and her brother who accidentally find themselves transported back to 1957. While trying to return home, the girl finds love and decides to stay in the past.

The show is a VIS and Rainbow Group coproduction, and was created and written by Catharina Ledoboer, who has previously written shows for the Nickelodeon USA and Latin America channels.

Club 57 was first broadcast across Latin America by Nickelodeon and in Italy by pubcaster Rai TV.

Susana Margarida Gomes, channel manager at Biggs, said: “We are very glad to have closed this agreement with VIS on Club 57. This show is totally made for a channel like Biggs. When music meets dancing in such a magical and special way, we knew we had to give this show to all our viewers in Africa and Portugal.”

Elena Antonini, sales and coproduction director at VIS, added: “We are pleased to seal this new agreement with Dreamia for Club 57, a high-quality youth series, and are confident it will be a success in the markets where Biggs operates. This agreement opens up new opportunities to introduce additional high-quality children’s content from our catalogue.”
