Kingdom Business will look at gospel through the multiple lenses of family, faith, love and the redemptive power of music, according to the streamer, which is a joint venture between US cablenet BET and Tyler Perry Studios.

The eight-episode series centres on a gospel queen and her ex-producer/songwriter/lover, who created her sound and launched her career.

It is being executive produced by Holly Carter, DeVon Franklin and Kirk Franklin, who will also serve as the show’s executive music producer, and veteran TV and literary agent Michael Van Dyck.

The series is being written and executive produced by the Peabody Award-winning writing-producing duo Kerry Lenhart and JJ Sakmar, with Daelight Media producing.

Casting and production details for the drama will be announced at a later date, BET+ said.

In related news, BET is gearing up to air a slate of original suspense thrillers that will air every Tuesday, starting next week.

These include Sacrifice, a BET+ original film that originally debuted in late 2019 and which has been picked up as a BET+ original series set to launch later this year.
