ViacomCBS Int’l expands Americas team

ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) has brought Fernando Gaston back to the company as part of an expansion of its Americas team.

Fernando Gaston

Gaston has been appointed VP of content and will oversee the strategy, development and production of all VIS content in the region, reporting to Federico Cuervo, senior VP and head of VIS Americas.

Gaston has more than 25 years of international experience in the entertainment industry. Prior to joining VIS, he was VP of development and production for NBCUniversal’s Telemundo Global Studios in charge of new series and pilots.

He joined Telemundo in 2016 from Viacom, where he had previously been senior VP of content for MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central Latin America under Viacom International Media Networks.

Gaston’s addition is among several changes to the VIS Americas team. Other appointments include Ezequiel Groisman in the newly created role of VP of content development, in which he will supervise the selection and creation of fiction and non-fiction productions.

Meanwhile, Teresa Gonzalez has expanded her current local role in Brazil to lead fiction development at a pan-regional level, while Rafael Aladjem will lead non-fiction. Both will report directly to Groisman.

Jose Viggiano has been appointed VP of production and production management, responsible for handling all VIS productions across the region’s main markets.

Valeria Puccio will serve as director of production and production management in Argentina, while Angeles Roldán has taken the equivalent position in Mexico. Both will report to Viggiano.

Guillermo Borensztein, VP of content sales and coproduction, has added oversight of film sales to his role, reporting to Cuervo.

Cuervo said: “As we continue to focus on producing diverse and inclusive content across the region, this new leadership will allow us to move forward with our goal of becoming the leader in Spanish-language content and increasing production of new formats, for both ViacomCBS brands and our strategic partners.”
