ViacomCBS grows Rose’s role

ViacomCBS has expanded the remit of Nickelodeon International’s Chris Rose to include the role of VP of production and development at its fledgling international kids’ studio.

Chris Rose

Rose has been named VP of production and development at ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) Kids, the division set up by the US media giant last year and headed  by Nina Hahn.

Based in London, Rose will report to Hahn, who also holds the role of senior VP of production and development for Nickelodeon International.

In his expanded role, Rose will focus on growing ViacomCBS Networks International’s kids content pipeline by leading the animation and live-action development and production teams for VIS Kids and Nickelodeon International.

VIS plans to develop more than 30 new kids’ shows over the next three years, for ViacomCBS’s platforms – which include Paramount+, Nickelodeon and Channel 5 in the UK – and third parties.

Rose will spearhead production development initiatives across the UK and align with the studio’s production and development teams in Latin America, EMEAA and Israel.

Charly Valentine, VP of live-action production and development for Nickelodeon International, will report to Rose.

Additionally, Rose has expanded his team by hiring Adam Bailey, manager of animation production and development for Nickelodeon International, as revealed by C21 last week.

Bailey, who joined from Welsh studio Cloth Cat Animation, will support Rose in identifying new IP and talent for the brand.

With more than 20 years of experience in broadcasting, development and production, Rose joined Nickelodeon in 2018 from Beano Studios and has since secured several key projects and talent.

Nina Hahn

Rose, a former exec at ABC in Australia, manages the brand’s global animated shorts programme, which spawned Sharkdog, VIS’s first internationally originated global animated series for Netflix, set to premiere worldwide in 2021.

He has also led on the delivery of Ollie’s Pack and is leading the production of The Twisted Timeline of Sammy & Raj, the first collaboration between Nickelodeon International and Viacom18 in India.

Prior to joining ABC down under in 2012, Rose had worked as VP of development and programming at UK-based Hit Entertainment since 2008, after holding acquisitions roles at the BBC during nearly a decade at the UK pubcaster.

Rose has contributed to the development and production of several series, including The Deep, Bluey, Little Lunch and Mike the Knight over the years.
