Viacom links up with Bowfinger’s Segura

Viacom International Studios (VIS) has secured a first-look agreement with Spanish actor, screenwriter, director and producer Santiago Segura.

The creative content, development and production deal will see VIS work with Segura via his production company, Bowfinger International Pictures.

VIS will be allowed first revision rights and preferential acquisition over television and film projects from Segura and Bowfinger.

Segura gained notoriety after the non-PC feature film Torrente 1: The Silly Arm of the Law (1998), which was followed up by Sin Rodeos and, most recently, Padre No Hay Más Que Uno.

“This alliance opens up great opportunities by combining Santiago’s extraordinary creativity with the global reach of the VIS,” said Federico Cuervo, senior VP and head of VIS.
