Veteran Spanish exec Pepe Huertas founds scripted prodco Tres Vacas

Spanish executive Pepe Huertas is launching a production label alongside creators and showrunners Pilar Nadal and Felipe Mellizo.

Madrid-based Tres Vacas will focus on developing and producing scripted programming for the Spanish and international markets. The new company is part of Prime Plot, a production group launched by Huertas in October 2021.

Huertas has more than three decades of industry experience and has previously held positions at broadcasters Antena 3 and Canal+ and production company Globomedia.

Nadal and Mellizo are creators of successful Spanish titles including Médico de Familia, Compañeros, Periodistas, Un Paso Adelante and Águila Roja, as well as the dramatic feature Parot, which won the best screenplay award at the Berlin TV Series Festival in 2021, and Amazon Prime original drama El Cid.

“Our aim is to conceive relatable stories capable of engaging with the audience from the first minute, based on in-depth character development that allows us to construct long and strong narrative arcs,” said Huertas, who serves as founding partner and managing director of Tres Vacas.

“We become closely involved in our productions from start to finish in order to accomplish high-quality series.”
