Veteran factual commissioner Siobhan Mulholland lands exec role at BBC

Unscripted producer Siobhan Mulholland has joined UK pubcaster the BBC as a genre executive for factual content on a 12-month contract.

Mulholland, who was a factual commissioning editor at European satcaster Sky from 2008 to 2018, comes to the BBC after most recently working as a freelance executive producer.

During her time at Sky, she was responsible for commissioning more than 600 hours of documentaries, arts and factual entertainment programming, including David Attenborough’s Conquest of the Skies, 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy, Inside the Freemasons, Inside the Mind of Leonardo with Peter Capaldi, Hotel Secrets with Richard E Grant and Master of Photography.

The appointment, announced by BBC director of factual, arts and classical music Patrick Holland, is effective from Monday, with Mulholland reporting to Holland.

Mulholland will work closely with the channel, genre and portfolio teams, in addition to providing strategic and senior editorial assistance to Holland. She will also collaborate with the senior leadership team in factual and arts to help shape the BBC’s editorial strategy.

“Siobhan is a brilliantly collaborative producer who will bring great energy and insight to this new role,” said Holland.
