Veteran Disney exec Kelly Garrett to lead development at Hallmark Media

Hallmark Media has appointed longtime Disney exec Kelly Garrett as VP of development.

Garrett, who was most recently executive director of current series and original movies at Disney-owned cable network Freeform, will work on Hallmark Media’s holiday programming and report to senior VP of development Samantha DiPippo.

Her role will include sourcing material and taking projects from development to production and final delivery. She will be based in Hallmark Media’s office in Studio City, California.

During Garrett’s 14-year spell with Disney, she oversaw original movies including The Thing About Harry, Life-Size 2: A Christmas Eve, Ghosting: The Spirit of Christmas, The Turkey Drop, Holidaze, The Mistle-Tones and Lovestruck: The Musical.

She also oversaw Freeform original series such as Good Trouble, Cruel Summer, The Fosters, Siren, Switched at Birth, Stitchers and Young & Hungry.
