V10 Entertainment acquires digital rights management outfit Towerhouse

LA-based production group V10 Entertainment, owner of firms including America’s Funniest Home Videos maker Vin Di Bona Productions and Venture 10 Studio Group, is pushing further into digital content with the acquisition of content creation and platform management company Towerhouse.

Parker Jones

The deal is one of the first shepherded by V10 president Carter Skeath, who joined in January from Viacom Global Distribution, and will enable the company to use its vast content library in more targeted and data-informed ways. Financial terms were not disclosed.

V10 says it owns the largest catalogue of user-generated-content in the industry, with more than 2.6 million clips. Its portfolio includes 27 digital channels and more than 1,600 hours of content.

Since it was founded by YouTube and WarnerMedia exec Parker Jones in 2021, Towerhouse has carved out a niche working with brands such as the Women’s Sports Network, Comics Explained, Olympian Ian Gunther and retired bodybuilding legend Ronnie Coleman to help them expand their digital presence.

With the acquisition, Towerhouse will now sit within V10, with Jones remaining as CEO. He will report to V10 CEO John Stevens and Skeath.

“V10 is making a big bet on Parker and his team with this investment, which aligns perfectly with our content strategy and elevates our owned brands and channel services businesses during this transitional time in audience engagement,” said Stevens, while Skeath noted that Towerhouse will be “key in driving V10’s IP across channels.”

Towerhouse’s Jones added: “Towerhouse knows how to turn content libraries into growing, monetisable audiences – especially in sports and entertainment, where rights management and sustainable audience growth matter more than ever.”
