USA Network returns to Temptation Island

The Swedish version of Temptation Island

USA Network has confirmed it is rebooting reality format Temptation Island for its 2019 schedule, 15 years after the show last aired in the US.

The series originally ran for three seasons on Fox between 2001 and 2003.

USA Network will return the show to air in January, with original host Mark L Walberg reprising his role for the ten-part reboot.

Banijay Studios North America is producing the new version for the US cablenet, which joins unscripted series including Chrisley Knows Best and music competition show Real Country on its schedules.

The format sees four couples questioning their relationships travel to a tropical island where they are joined by 24 eligible men and women and must decide whether to commit to each other or go their separate ways and live the single life.

David Goldberg, CEO of Banijay Studios North America, said: “In a period of revival television, the return of Temptation Island, a show that leapt on to the scene with equal parts ratings bang and media attention, makes all the sense in the world.

“Temptation Island retains key format elements, but a concerted effort was made to populate the island with singles genuinely looking for love whose personalities are appealing to the four couples who are questioning the long-term viability of their relationships.”
