US cablenet operator A+E launches new digital division led by Ann McGowan

US cablenet operator A+E is launching A+E Digital division, led by the newly appointed general manager of digital platforms, Ann McGowan.

A+E said the initiative aims to further expand the company’s digital footprint, diversify its business model and deliver innovative experiences that resonate with audiences and advertisers.

The division’s first initiative will be a relaunch of History.com with editorial and short-form content.

Before joining A+E Networks, McGowan served as senior VP of new ventures at Dow Jones, where she spearheaded strategies that expanded audio and video operations.

Prior to Dow Jones, McGowan held multiple senior leadership roles at NBCUniversal, where she oversaw digital strategies for the company’s entertainment programming including flagship brands such as Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show.

Earlier in her career, McGowan worked at Showtime Networks, where she developed the company’s first direct-to-consumer strategy.
