US-based MediaCo acquires Hispanic broadcaster Estrella Media
US-based MediaCo, a specialist in Spanish-language radio stations, has acquired all of Hispanic broadcaster Estrella Media’s commercial, digital, content and TV operations.

The transaction includes the EstrellaTV channel and Estrella Media’s digital and linear video content business, including its four FAST channels (EstrellaTV, Estrella News, Cine EstrellaTV and Estrella Games) and the EstrellaTV app.
MediaCo operates urban radio stations HOT 97 and WBLS 107.5 in New York City and through this transaction will be able to reach the established audience of Estrella Media, which also operates radio stations in Los Angeles, Houston and Dallas.
Following the purchase of Estrella Media, MediaCo has appointed former marketing director at NBCUniversal Hispanic Enterprises Jacqueline Hernández as interim CEO.
“The combination of these two proven media brands and their talented teams will drive content and distribution growth for the benefit of our multicultural audiences,” said Hernández.

As part of the transaction, Estrella Media will continue to own and operate its local radio and television stations, while MediaCo will provide programming and content.
MediaCo will also work to increase distribution with other streaming partners, as well as grow digital streaming, CTV and AVoD assets.
