Urman’s Sutton Street signs with CBS

The CW’s Jane the Virgin

CBS Television Studios has agreed a five-year overall deal with US producer Jennie Snyder Urman and her prodco Sutton Street Productions.

Urman launched Sutton Street in 2018 with Joanna Klein, since which the company has sold projects to broadcasters and platforms including CBS, The CW, Netflix, HBO Max, Quibi, Peacock and Lifetime.

Urman already had a production agreement with CBS, which under the new deal is extended to 2025 and now also gives the studio the exclusive rights to produce all television content created and developed by Sutton Street.

Urman is best known for creating The CW’s Jane the Virgin and is currently an exec producer, with Klein, on CBS’s upcoming series Broke. Urman’s other past credits include the reboot of Charmed for The CW, Gilmore Girls and feature film Something Borrowed, starring John Krasinski and Kate Hudson.

Klein, meanwhile, has worked at Lifetime, The CW and Lionsgate, developing projects such as Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries and Riverdale.
