Unsound Films launches with DJ Lee Burridge feature documentary Sound of a Dream

Sound of a Dream is directed by founder Hoj Jomehri

Writer and director Hoj Jomehri is launching an independent scripted and unscripted production company called Unsound Films.

The company is launching with debut feature film, Sound of a Dream, a documentary about international DJ Lee Burridge, directed by founder Jomehri.

The feature is a coproduction with Believe Media. Believe Media founder, Liz Silver, executive produced the Pink Floyd documentary feature, Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd.

Believe has produced feature documentaries including Weird Nightmare, a tribute to jazz great Charles Mingus, Tribeca-winner Kassim the Dream about the child soldier turned Junior Middleweight Champion of the World, and the Oscar-nominated Open Heart.

Sound of a Dream follows Lee and his journey from DJing at his father’s pub in the UK to bringing together a global community called All Day I Dream – a music festival, record label, community, and legacy.

Unsound Films will produce international feature films, series and other content with a focus on human storytelling and the arts.

The production company is developing a slate of scripted and unscripted IP, as well as co-producing third party content. Jomehri is known for filmmaking for brands including ABSOLUT, Airbnb, 2K Sports and Google, and touring internationally as a DJ and dance music producer.

Jomehri, director and founder of Unsound Films, said: “I’ve come to realise that While I set out to document Lee’s story, I was also chronicling an essential part of my own. For me, it was dance music and rave culture that embraced me as a teenager trying to find his way. As I began to find my voice as a DJ, it was Lee’s music that helped guide me. Years later, I found myself crossing paths with Lee on tour. We shared pre-gig jitters and sunrise conversations in hotel rooms and on festival grounds. We were experiencing the highs and lows of this unique life together, and I started to capture these genuine moments to reveal the artist and the human behind the music.”
