Univision lands in Canada

NATPE: Univision, the US Hispanic broadcaster, is headed north of the border into Canada after striking a licensing arrangement with Corus Entertainment’s Telelatino Network.

As a result of the deal Telelatino’s TLN en Español (TLNE) channel will be rebranded Univision Canada.

Telelatino’s Spanish-language cablenet is carried by all of Canada’s largest cable and satellite platforms. Its schedule features a significant amount of Univision programming including the Latin Grammy Awards, FIFA World Cup coverage and series like Sábado Gigante, Primer Impacto and Aqui y Ahora.

The pair has had a working relationship for more than a decade but Telelatino president Aldo Di Felice commented said cementing closer ties now made sense.

“The Spanish speaking community in Canada is an important and growing multicultural group. We are proud that our longstanding relationship with Univision has culminated in officially putting the Univision stamp on TLNE,” said Di Felice.
