UKTV greenlights adaptation of Belgian escape room format The Way Out

The Way Out is adapted from a format created by Roses Are Blue

UK multichannel broadcaster UKTV has commissioned comedy entertainment series The Way Out, based on the Belgian format of the same name.

Produced by UK indie Tuesday’s Child (The Fortune Hotel), the 4×60’ series will be hosted by Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off) and feature comedians Ed Gamble and Nish Kumar as team captains.

Each episode sees two teams of comedians dropped into a themed escape room, with the winners being able to solve problems and successfully plot their escape.

The original Belgian format was created by Roses Are Blue for VTM and distributed by Be Entertainment. The new show will debut on streamer U and free-to-air channel U&Dave later this year.
