UK’s Rainmaker to represent EW Scripps Company’s content internationally

Drama series Saints & Sinners centres on members of a Baptist church in a small American town

UK-based distributor Rainmaker Content has signed a deal to represent The EW Scripps Company’s original programming and networks outside the US.

Under the deal, Rainmaker will distribute select channels including Court TV, Court TV: Legendary Trials and Scripps News, in addition to original programming from other Scripps-owned networks such as ION and Bounce.

This represents the first time that Ohio-headquartered Scripps has worked with a third party to distribute its channels and programming internationally. The relationship will begin at Mipcom next month.

Titles from Bounce’s lineup include comedy series Act Your Age, which follows three successful women navigating friendship, dating, exes and their adult children in Washington DC, and Saints & Sinners, which centres on a Baptist church in small-town Georgia.

Court TV’s programming library includes Someone They Knew with Tamron Hall, which examines cases where the victims know their killers, and OJ25, a 25-part deep dive into the trial of OJ Simpson. Meanwhile, Scripps News original series include Next Level and The Why.

Rainmaker will also handle international distribution on the Scripps National Spelling Bee, the longest-running educational competition in the US.

“Scripps has built a library of unique and compelling content over the years which has had virtually no prior exposure in territories around the world – until now,” said Tom Zappala, senior VP of content and programming strategy at The EW Scripps Company.

“Our diverse entertainment library of scripted, reality, features and event programming is unrivalled, while our thriving news and court channels are distinctive and appealing.”
