UK’s ITV among global buyers enchanted by magical ballet series Spellbound

Spellbound will air on the ITVX streaming platform

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has acquired the first series of magical tween ballet series Spellbound for its ITVX streaming platform.

Telling the story of a teenage girl from the US who studies at the Paris Opera Ballet School and finds a book of spells, season one has also been acquired by Sweden’s SVT, Belgium’s VRT, Latvia’s Sia All Media and Videoland in the Netherlands.

Norway’s NRK and Finland’s YLE have both snapped up S1 and S2. Disney-owned US streamer Hulu has taken three seasons of Spellbound’s parent series Find Me in Paris, while Spain’s EITB has bought S3 of the same show.

Both Spellbound and Find Me in Paris are made by Federation Studios-owned Cottonwood Media with coproduction partners ZDF, ZDF Studios and Opéra national de Paris, for commissioners Hulu and France TV.  Federation Kids & Family and ZDF Studios handle global distribution for the two titles.

Darren Nartey, acquisitions manager, ITV, said: “We’re looking forward to bringing Spellbound to our ITVX Kids offering in 2025 with Federation Kids & Family and ZDF Studios. It’s a special show with great themes in an incredible setting that we’re sure our family viewers will be charmed by.”
