UK’s Channel 4 picks up History survival competition show Alone from A+E

Alone has reached nine seasons in the US

MIPCOM: UK public broadcaster Channel 4 has picked up survival competition series Alone from A+E Networks, the distributor announced in Cannes today.

C4’s version of Alone will be a six-part series produced by The Garden.

Nine seasons of the format, in which 10 contestants must survive a harsh wilderness with only basic tools, have already aired on A+E-owned cablenet History in the US, and it has been adapted and screened in Australia and Denmark.

A+E has also sold hip-hop entertainment show The Rap Game to Italy, where prodco Yam112003 will make the first non-English version of the format for RaiPlay.

“A+E Networks’ catalogue boasts compelling, universally resonant formats that tap into the zeitgeist,” said Ellen Lovejoy, senior VP head of sales, Americas and formats for A+E.

The distributor has also sold a fifth season of Forged In Fire in Latin America, as well as two seasons of canine competition format Top Dog to RTL in Germany.
