‘Heart-warming’ Ukraine war comedy-drama tops TVP’s slate for MipTV

We Shall Live Together is set against the backdrop of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war

A “heart-warming” comedy-drama set against the backdrop of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war tops the MipTV slate for Polish public broadcaster TVP.

We Shall Live Together (6×45’) is the first series produced in Poland that is set during the war, according to TVP, and is produced by Telewizja Polska and exec produced by MTL Maxfilm.

The series stars Lena Górna, winner of the Golden Lion Award at the Polish Film Festival 2023, and Oksana Czerkaszyna, star of 2023’s Ukrainian Oscar candidate Klondike.

The series, about a Polish couple who accept two Ukrainian refugees to live in their home, is directed by Anna Maliszewska (Infamia, Dad) and Tadeusz Łysiak, the director of the Oscar-nominated The Dress.

Also on TVP’s MipTV slate is period drama Matylda (13×45’), about a young rebellious daughter of a participant in Poland’s 1863 January Uprising. Matylda is produced by Telewizja Polska and exec produced by prodco Delord.

“These two series have incredibly high production values, and are two unique stories with relatable characters,” said Urszula Suszko, head of international sales at TVP.

“Matylda is part of our ongoing development of period drama that reflects Poland’s rich history, and We Shall Live Together is like a piece of modern history, reflecting Poland’s ties with Ukraine and its people.”
