TVNZ renews exclusive content deal with ITV Studios across drama and formats

TVNZ has renewed its long-standing content partnership with ITV Studios (ITVS) in a revised multi-year deal that extends the exclusive relationship for ITV content to be broadcast on TVNZ.

Under the renewed agreement, TVNZ continues to hold exclusive first-look access to ITV Studios’ upcoming slate of scripted and non-scripted programmes. TVNZ will now broadcast over 1,500 hours of ITV content across its brands annually.

A highlight of the extended agreement was the commitment to the Love Island franchise from TVNZ, which secures all current and future Love Island formats. These include Love Island UK, Love Island USA, Love Island Australia, spin-off Love Island Games and Love Island All Stars.

The refreshed alliance was brokered by exiting ITVS executive Augustus Dulgaro, currently executive VP of sales for Asia Pacific, ITVS senior sales manager Harry Seward and Anthony Sonego, ITVS senior legal manager.

As announced late last year, Dulgaro will step away from his current role at the end of March 2026, to be replaced by Moira Hogan.

It’s gratifying to know that our key brands and upcoming slate will have the best launch platform in New Zealand for many years to come,” Dulgaro said.

TVNZ has acquired over 13,000 hours of content from ITV Studios over the last decade, with recent premium scripted acquisitions including dramas The Forsytes from Mammoth Screen; The Hack from AC Chapter One and One Shoe Films; The Guest from Quay Street Productions; and Coldwater, from Sister.

The Kiwi broadcaster’s other acquisitions coming up for 2026 include Australian series Run from Warner Bros International Television Production Australia and Missed Call, an investigative thriller about a mother’s desperate search for her missing daughter from Pernel Media.

From the ITVS non-scripted slate, TVNZ has recently secured the age-gap reality travel show Worlds Apart and quizshow Time is Money from South Shore; Poisoned from Wonderhood Studios; and Shark: Celebrity Infested Waters from Plimsoll Productions.
