TV2’s Oiii boards Cartoon Forum factual toon Creature Combat

Creature Combat is being pitched at Cartoon Forum next week

Danish and Norwegian children’s channel Oiii, part of TV2, has boarded an animated factual wildlife series being pitched at Cartoon Forum next week.

Produced by Danish animation studio Nice Ninja, Creature Combat (26×11’) centres on two nature-loving hosts who travel the world while competing to present the coolest animal facts and the coolest animal.

Aimed at six-to nine-year-olds, the 2D animated series is written by Emil Poulsen and Line Friis Frederiksen, and directed by Lowe Haak.

As well as TV2’s Oiii, Nice Ninja has also been supported by the Danish Film Institute for the development of the pilot episode. Nice Ninja will pitch Creature Combat to potential buyers and partners at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse next week.

Thomas Borch Nielsen, producer at Nice Ninja, told C21: “We usually know animal programmes as live-action productions with recordings of animals in their natural habitats with narrator voices. But working with Creature Combat within an animated format gives us the opportunity to easily ‘travel around’ to all the locations we focus on, and furthermore, it gives us the opportunity to visualise all the strange animal facts and features in a playful way that adds a lot of humour.”
