TV2 Denmark appoints Majse Garde Bergmann as creative producer

Danish government-owned broadcaster TV2 has added Majse Garde Bergmann as a creative producer in its drama department, led by Katrine Vogelsang.

Garde Bergmann will join TV2 on January 1, having recently worked as a development executive consultant for HBO Nordic.

She has almost 20 years’ experience as a script editor, working on series and feature films, and has previously consulted for Danish pubcaster DR, as well as TV2 and a host of Danish production companies.

TV2 has also recruited Carsten Sparwath, whose credits include Darkness: Those Who Kill, The Neon Demon, Dicte: Crime Reporter and Warrior, as line producer.

With linear viewing continuing to erode, TV2 is prioritising digital growth and its VoD platform TV2 Play, with original scripted a key part of its offer.

Earlier this year, TV2 unveiled a digital-first strategy to drive a five-year growth and investment plan to 2025, under the slogan ‘TV2 Play for All.’ The group is seeking to hit 1.3 million TV2 Play subscribers by 2025.

Vogelsang, director of TV2’s drama department, said the unit is also looking to fill two other roles.

TV2’s drama department currently includes executive producers Pernille Bech Christensen, Jennifer Green, Mette Heiberg and Christian E Christiansen, as well as Lea Løbger and David Østerbøg, who joined earlier this year.

Christiansen, however, will exit at the end of 2021 to return to directing, and will be replaced by Ann-Alicia Thunbo Ilskov, who has a background as a producer at Zentropa and was most recently a strategic project manager in TV2’s drama department.

Starting the role on January 1, Ilskov will be based at Kvægtorvet in Odense as part of TV2’s strategy to increase and strengthen regional production.

Bech Christensen, meanwhile, will be on leave from TV2 until March 1 next year, as she is working as an editing consultant on Danish film director Susanne Bier’s upcoming series The First Lady for Showtime in the US. During this period, TV2 has recruited screenwriter Ida Maria Rydén on an interim basis.
