Turner’s Reilly tapped for streamer

Former NBC and Fox executive Kevin Reilly has been appointed to lead the content strategy for WarnerMedia’s soon-to-launch streaming service.

Reilly, who has been overseeing TNT and TBS since 2015, will retain that role in his new position as as president of the US networks and chief creative officer at Turner and direct-to-consumer.

He will report to WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey and Turner president David Levy, working across content for the networks and the streamer, which is being launched in the wake of AT&T’s acquisition of Turner owner Time Warner.

During his time at Turner, Reilly has worked on shows such as Angie Tribeca and The Alienist. He started his career at NBC, later moving to FX as entertainment president before returning to NBC to take up a similar role. He has also headed entertainment at Fox.

He is now tasked with overseeing content for a streamer that will compete against Netflix and Amazon, as well as Disney’s forthcoming service Disney+.

WarnerMedia unveiled its streaming plans in October, with the as-yet-unnamed service set to feature content from WarnerMedia’s vast collection of films, television series, documentaries and animation.

Reilly is the latest appointment for WarnerMedia, which recently hired AT&T Entertainment Group and DirecTV’s former head of marketing Brad Bentley as its exec VP for direct-to-consumer development and general manager of the new streamer.
