Turner rallies behind Euro toon

Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) has greenlit more episodes of Cartoon Network Studio Europe’s flagship children’s comedy.

The Amazing World of Gumball

The third season of The Amazing World of Gumball (40×11′) will again be produced in the London development studio of TBS-owned Cartoon Network, with creator Ben Bocquelet, director Mic Graves and exec producer Daniel Lennard remaining onboard.

Gumball revolves around an excitable and optimistic blue cat with a flair for misadventure and whose friends include a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a cheerleading peanut and a banana. It features both 2D and 3D animation within a live-action setting.

The series, which launched in 2011 and has won two Baftas, is currently in its second season on Cartoon Network in the US and the UK.

A transmission date for the third season has not yet been set, but as with previous seasons it will air on Cartoon Network in more than 160 countries.

Michael Carrington, EMEA chief content office at TBS, said that Gumball was “a stand-out, engrossing and captivating series that sits alongside contemporary greats from the US such as Regular Show and Adventure Time.”
