This week on C21FM, from C21’s Content LA, we heard from Chris Brearton, VP of corporate strategy for Amazon’s Prime Video and Studios operations, plus head of subsidiary MGM’s unscripted business MGM+, and MGM+ chief Michael Wright about the content strategy for their cablenet and streaming service formerly known as Epic.

Also from Content LA, we heard from Universal Television Alternative Studio president Toby Gorman about building on key titles like The Titan Games, World of Dance and That’s My Jam; partnering with the BBC on The Traitors and new adventure competition format Destination X; plus the possibility unscripted production will accelerate to “plug the holes” created by the US writers’ strike.

Meanwhile, CBS Studios executive VP of drama development Bryan Seabury, head of international coproductions Lindsey Martin, head of comedy development Kate Adler and head of animation and alternative Alec Botnick talk about some of their recent hits, titles on their upcoming slate and how they look to work with third parties.

Elsewhere, director of acquisitions, formats and development for the Nordic and Baltic regions at TV4 in Sweden Cathrine Wiernik, Cineflix Rights head of scripted TV James Durie and TV2 Norway’s international content director Nina Lorgen Flemmen spoke about this year’s LA Screenings, the impact of the writers’ strike and adapting to the present economic environment.

Finally, Religion of Sports co-founder Gotham Chopra discussed new Netflix docuseries McGregor Forever, following mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor, and his company’s plans for growth in line with the rising popularity of sports documentaries.
