C21’s Content Australia On Demand got underway recently with a series of panel discussions and one-on-one interviews exploring how the nation’s television business is evolving in a period of unprecedented change.

Wayne Blair is an acclaimed film, TV and theatre director, writer, actor and producer.

His feature film directorial debut, The Sapphires, had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, was the highest grossing Australian film of the year and won 11 Australian Academy Awards.

He coproduced and directed the drama series Cleverman for Sundance TV and ABC TV, with other credits including the Australian public broadcaster’s hit shows Total Control and Mystery Road. As an actor, Blair is known for titles like Redfern Now, The Broken Shore and Small Claims.

He spoke to film and TV critic Margaret Pomeranz about how his career has evolved and what he’s got coming up next.
