Beatrice Springborn is interim president of Universal International Studios, the division within Comcast’s Universal Studio Group that has ownership stakes in companies including Canada’s Lark Productions, Australia’s Matchbox Pictures and UK-based Working Title Films, Carnival Productions and Heyday Films.

She is also president of Universal Content Productions, the studio focused on making shows for the US, having joined the business in 2020 following a six-year stint at Hulu, where she led comedy and drama development, coproductions and casting for series including The Handmaid’s Tale, Normal People and Little Fires Everywhere.

Springborn now has oversight of operations behind shows including Channel 4 and Peacock comedy We Are Lady Parts, Amazon’s Hanna, Netflix’s Clickbait and new BBC kids title Dodger.

She spoke to Jordan Pinto about what’s next for Universal International Studios, its relationship with NBCUniversal’s Peacock, industry verticalisation and scope for global partnerships.
