Big Light Productions is behind series including The Man In The High Castle for Amazon, Medici for Netflix and Rai and Leonardo for the same Italian broadcaster, alongside France Télévisions, Sony and Amazon UK.

The London-based company, established by The X-Files exec producer Frank Spotnitz, also coproduced the second season of hit Sky Italia drama Devils alongside Lux Vide and this week announced a first-look deal with Marty Adelstein’s ITV Studios-backed Tomorrow Studios, whose credits include TNT/Netflix sci-fi series Snowpiercer and 10 Year Old Tom for HBO Max.

Spotnitz and Big Light creative director Emily Feller spoke to Ruth Lawes about these developments, the complexities of funding increasingly expensive dramas and why Netflix’s slump in subscribers may just be a positive for the industry.
