Tubi stocks up on Japanese animation

One Piece debuted in 1999

US AVoD service Tubi has picked up almost 500 episodes of Japanese animated content in a deal with Tokyo-based Toei Animation.

The Fox-owned streamer has taken Toriko, Ge-Ge-Ge No Kitaro, Slam Dunk, Saint Seiya: Saintia Sho, Saint Seiya: Hades and Dr Slump. The latter two shows will be available with English subtitles for the first time.

Tubi viewers will also have access to six specials from manga franchise One Piece, which first aired in 1999.

The content will be available to all Tubi viewers on all devices around the world. Adam Lewinson, chief content officer at Tubi, said: “Our new partnership with Toei Animation super-serves fans with some of the most iconic anime ever created.”
