TRX advisory board adds ex-Sony exec

The RightsXchange (TRX), the online TV rights portal created by Matthew and David Frank, has added a former Sony Pictures Television (SPT) executive to its advisory board.

Andrea Wong was most recently president of international production for SPT and president of international for Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Prior to her departure in February, Wong oversaw SPT’s 18 international production companies, which create nearly 1,300 hours of entertainment around the world each year.

Her previous roles include president and CEO of Lifetime Networks at A+E Networks and executive VP of alternative programming, specials and late night at ABC, where she developed shows such as The Bachelor and the US version of Dancing With the Stars.

TRX enables TV programme buyers to search for content, see instant rights availabilities and make offers for show rights online. Its aim is to make deals easier, quicker and more efficient for both sales teams and buyers.

The service is now available to all buyers and sellers around the world, having launched globally last month, enabling them to engage, negotiate and agree key deal terms online for the first time.

Both BBC Worldwide and Sky Vision have committed to listing their entire catalogues on the platform.

Wong also serves on the main boards of Liberty Media Corporation, Liberty Interactive Corporation and Hudson’s Bay Company. She joins other leading figures from the world of TV production, distribution, technology and finance on the TRX board including Stephen Lambert, CEO of Studio Lambert, and John McVay, CEO of independent producers’ association Pact.
