TruTV preps ‘reality musical’

US cablenet TruTV is continuing its schedule revamp by adding four new programmes, including what it claims is television’s first reality musical series.

Branson Famous (working title, 12×30′), from Road to Awe, goes behind the scenes with the larger-than-life family behind the longest-running variety show in the city of Branson, Missouri.

Other shows on the slate include kart-racing series Kart Life (10×60′), produced by Bodega Pictures; Hack My Life (10×30′), from Sharp Entertainment, which provides viewers with handy tips for everyday life; and drink-based competition series The Shake Up (8×60′), from ITV Studios.

All four series are slated to launch this fall and winter. The new commissions from the Turner Broadcasting-owned network come on the back of six other new series ordered earlier this year as part of a shake-up of its schedule.

TruTV, which is set to launch in the UK this summer, has also added an additional 13 episodes to its order for forthcoming reality Western Way Out West.
