Trump’s first 100 days in office detailed in new quick-turnaround doc for UK’s Channel 4

Channel 4 in the UK has commissioned a fast-turnaround documentary special about the first 100 days of US president Donald Trump’s second term in office.

The 1×60’ factual show, Trump Revolution: 100 Days That Changed the World, is produced by ITN Productions (ITNP) and will air on April 24.

Presented by Channel 4 News anchor Matt Frei, it unpacks a chaotic political period which has seen the POTUS impose severe trade tariffs, call gender and diversity quotas “illegal” and attempt to restore peace in both Gaza and Ukraine.

The documentary features the thoughts of former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, deputy national security adviser K.T. McFarland and ex-Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull. It is the latest quick-turnaround current affairs special for Channel 4 after recent docs such as Inferno: LA on Fire, and Can Elon Musk Rule the World?

Jeremy Daldry, deputy head of UK factual, ITNP, said: “The challenge when making any current affairs documentary is how to pin down evolving situations. Trump is more unpredictable than most which has made the first 100 days of his second term so riveting and the need for our programme that presses ‘pause’ to allow us to consider the facts and implications even more essential.”

Nevine Mabro, commissioning editor, news and current affairs, Channel 4, said: “From trade tariffs to new alliances; Gaza to Ukraine Trump’s second term has seen him hit the ground running with hurricane force.

“This documentary combs through the chaos left in the wake of the US President’s first hundred days and goes behind the headlines to examine the seismic events that has shaken the US and the world.”
