Trioscope adapts Castro spy story

LA-based hybrid animation specialist Trioscope Studios is adapting a piece of journalism about the CIA’s attempts to spy on Fidel Castro in Cuba into a television series.

Trioscope has partnered with longform journalism outfit Truly*Adventurous to adapt co-founder Greg Nichols’ article The Havana Job as a series.

The Havana Job follows three CIA agents as they bungle their way into Castro’s clutches while attempting to bug diplomatic offices in Havana and the attempt to bring them home after they are captured.

On the eve of the most dangerous international stand-off of the 20th century, they barely avoid the firing squad and are sentenced to Cuba’s most notorious prison, The Isle of Pines.

Michael LeSieur (Keeping Up With The Joneses) will write the adaptation. The executive producers for Trioscope include LC Crowley, Brandon Barr, Greg Jonkajtys and Brian Lavin, as well as Nichols and Matthew Pearl for Truly*Adventurous.

Launched earlier this year, Trioscope is currently in production on the forthcoming Second World War animated Netflix drama The Liberator, written by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive), directed by Jonkajtys and produced by A&E Studios and Unique Features.

Additionally, Trioscope has also already partnered with Dark Horse Comics, Oni Press, Unique Features and Hulu for unannounced projects.

Truly*Adventurous is currently in production on projects for Amazon Studios, Paramount TV and Endeavor Content.
