Trailblazer partners with Outkast’s Big Boi on mentorship series

US prodco Trailblazer Studios has agreed a partnership with Outkast rapper and music producer Big Boi to develop a music mentorship series.

Big Boi

The as-yet-untitled show will follow Big Boi, whose real name is Antwan André Patton, as he helps remodel basements, attics, garages and more into recording spaces

It has been inspired by Big Boi’s purchase and refurb of Outkast’s recording studio, The Dungeon, three years ago. The Dungeon will also appear in the show as Big Boi gives participants a one-on-one production masterclass.

The rapper’s Big Boi Little Boi Productions and Trailblazer Studios are producing the series in association with celebrity talent agency DirectFire Media. Executive producers are Big Boi and Adam Harrison as well as Trailblazer senior VP of development Ashleigh DiTonto and president and chief operating officer Jeff Lanter.

DiTonto said: “As a longtime fan of Big Boi and OutKast, we wanted to create a format that was authentic to him. Collaborating with and supporting other artists has always been at the core of Big Boi’s Dungeon Family roots, so there’s no better way to pay it forward than uplifting ‘dungeons’ and young musicians across the country.”
