India-based kids’ and family prodco Toonz Media Group has launched a pay TV channel called Toonz Kids in Indonesia.

The 24-hour channel is available on satellite provider Transvision and airs programmes in both Bahasa and English for four- to 12-year-olds.

With a focus on edutainment and entertainment shows, Toonz Kids will also look to explore content partnerships through animation coproductions with local companies in Indonesia.

“We will be actively pursuing content partnerships to co-create premium content, including e-sports, to engage the tweens and teens besides the kids’ audience category,” said Mukund Cairae, president of Toonz Media Networks.

The Toonz Kids launch is part of the company’s recently announced strategy to set up linear channels in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region.

“Indonesia has a fast-growing kids’ entertainment industry and we felt it would be the best place to launch the expansion of our platform entertainment business. We will be banking on Toonz’s 22-year-old legacy in the industry and our strong multi-genre library with 1,000+ hours of content,” said Toonz Media Group’s CEO P Jayakumar.

The news comes after Toonz launched OTT platform MyToonz earlier this year. The company also has 18 YouTube channels and syndication partnerships with VoD services including Roku, Kidoodle, Amazon Prime Video and Pluto TV.
