Tomorrow Studios to adapt Japanese crime format Connected for US

Connected: The Homebound Detective debuted on Hulu Japan

ITV-backed prodco Tomorrow Studios is to adapt Japanese crime format Connected: The Homebound Detective for US audiences.

The LA-based label has optioned the drama series from London content firm Envision Entertainment and Japanese broadcaster Nippon TV, which will both coproduce the US version with Tomorrow Studios.

The news was announced at the Asia TV Forum & Market, held in Singapore this week.

“Connected is an already successful format that furthers our development slate of compelling storytelling for a global TV audience,” said Marty Adelstein, CEO of Tomorrow Studios.

Connected: The Homebound Detective follows an agoraphobic young man who helps the police to solve crimes using his expert internet research abilities. However, his virtual investigations have real-life consequences.

The show streamed on Hulu Japan in April and was created by Itaru Mizuno, creative director for Nippon TV, and Michael Nakan, CEO of Envision Entertainment.
