Tomorrow Studios to adapt historical fiction novel Hang the Moon for TV

LA-based Tomorrow Studios has picked up the rights to author Jeannette Walls’ historical fiction novel Hang the Moon.

Boo Killebrew, who has previously collaborated with Tomorrow Studios on the Apple TV+ dark comedy series Physical, is attached to write the TV adaptation.

The novel, released on March 28, follows a woman who is exiled from her life of privilege after an accident involving her stepbrother. Nine years later, she returns with the goal of reclaiming her place in the family.

Tomorrow Studios CEO/partner Marty Adelstein, president/partner Becky Clements and Alissa Bachner are executive producing alongside Walls and Killebrew.

In addition to Physical, Killebrew’s credits include Fleishman is in Trouble, A Teacher, Mrs. America and Longmire.

Tomorrow Studios, which is backed by ITV Studios, has acquired the rights to several books and pieces of IP over the past 12 months, including Claire Vaye Watkins’ novel I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness and Jonathan Franzen’s novel Freedom, and the rights to adapt Japanese crime format Connected: The Homebound Detective.

The production company’s credits include Snowpiercer (TNT), One Piece (Netflix), 10 Year Old Tom (HBO Max), Let the Right One In (Showtime) and Cowboy Bebop (Netflix).
