Tomorrow Studios adapting Tess Monaghan detective novels for television

ITV Studios-backed US production company Tomorrow Studios is acquiring the TV rights to the Tess Monaghan detective novels by American journalist and author Laura Lippman.

The 12-book series follows a reporter-turned-private-investigator, with each novel exploring new plot lines and characters in the diverse neighbourhoods of Baltimore.

Lippman has been tapped to co-write the TV adaptation with Megan Abbott, an American author whose novels include Beware the Woman, The Turnout and Give Me Your Hand.

Tomorrow Studios, which is behind shows including One Piece and The Better Sister, will develop the project, with CEO Marty Adelstein and president Becky Clements serving as executive producers.

Other exec producers on the project include Tomorrow Studios exec VP Alissa Bachner, Lippman and Abbott.
