RTL Group-owned Fremantle has updated its structure in Europe, with the promotion of Marco Tombolini to CEO of Fremantle Italy.

Marco Tombolini

Tombolini, who has been co-CEO of Fremantle Italy since May last year with Gabriele Immirzi, will take the helm of all areas and functions of the company, with the senior management of Fremantle Italy reporting to him.

Immirzi has now become co-CEO with Lorenzo Mieli of Fremantle-owned The Apartment Pictures.

Tombolini, from Milan, was chief creative officer of Endemol until 2009. In 2010 he became managing director of Sony Spain and after that, he became MD of Toro Media and Talpa Italia. In 2018, he joined Fremantle, first as director of the then Wavy division, followed by chief strategy officer.

Andrea Scrosati, group chief operating officer and CEO of continental Europe, Fremantle, said: “I have known Marco for many years and have always admired his remarkable talent, vision and ability to work in a team.

“I am sure that thanks to his leadership and the support he will receive from Jaime Ondarza as CEO Southern Europe, Fremantle Italy will continue to grow, creating even more innovative shows capable of engaging and inspiring audiences.

“Italy is one of the most important countries for our group in terms of the extraordinary creativity the country’s talents express, along with their excellent professionalism and ability to deliver. Marco’s appointment confirms our commitment to continue investing in this market, creating new jobs and supporting the growth of the country’s cultural industry.”
