Dr Herbert Kloiber, who recently netted a €147m (US$189.6m) windfall through the sale of his stake in cinema chain CinemaxX, has brought onboard his son, Herbert L Kloiber, to replace Dirk Schweitzer.

Kloiber Jnr takes over as MD from Schweitzer today. The latter is staying on until the end of the year and is leaving on “most amicable terms,” according to TMG.

Schweitzer joined from RTL Television in 2011 to replace 17-year company veteran Bernd Schlötterer but is now leaving for “personal reasons.”

Schweitzer said he was giving up his role at TMG’s headquarters in Munich in order to relocate to his home town of Cologne.

Kloiber Jnr will now assume responsibility for content licensing, international programme sales, VoD and the activities of affiliate groups including CTM and Concorde Home Entertainment. The company is best known for its involvement in shows including Moby Dick, Flashpoint and Thorn.

He led international business development at Sun Media Investment Holding from 2005 to 2007 before joining the On Demand Group in London to lead strategic expansion and acquisitions. He was more recently the general manager for French-speaking territories and head of business development for Western Europe.
