Danish pubcaster DR and Screen One Iceland have both acquired the series from distributor Tandem Communications, which holds worldwide rights to the 12 hour show outside the UK, Italy, Spain and Canada.

De Angelis is producing the series with Rai Italy, CBC in Canada, Artists Studio in the UK, Epos Films in Ireland and Antena 3 in Spain.

Starring an all-star cast including Sir Derek Jacobi, Neve Campbell and Chris Noth, the series will tell the story of the construction of the ship, its owner and the workers of the Belfast shipyards in 1907.

Rival series Titanic, written by Julian Fellowes, has been pre-sold to 86 countries worldwide ahead of its debut on UK terrestrial ITV1 later this month.
